until i realized that the strongest people i know break so fucking easily. fragility isn’t weakness, surviving isn’t about forgiveness or grace or whatever they call “inner strength;” it’s about learning to lick your wounds.
somebody told me to twist and tear my spine into thirty little pieces and cast vertebrae into the sky like stars. so i did. you should have told me to never wish on my own weaknesses; now the sky is raining down and all i can taste on my skin is the foul grime of paralysis.
“If you find someone who makes you smile, who checks up on you often to see if you’re okay. Who watches out or you and wants the best for you. Who loves and respects you. Don’t let them go. People like that are hard to find”—Unknown (via psych-facts)
don’t sit in your pajamas and reblog posts about how you wish you could be pretty and confident, just do it. Get up early so you can do your hair and makeup all nice for school, flirt with the boys and let them come to you, say “thank you” instead of “no i’m not” when someone calls you pretty, fake that fucking confidence until it’s real, do you understand me? Now go own that red lipstick.
TAKE THIS ADVICE GUYS ITS THE BEST THING YOU COULD EVER DO FOR YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE
Much love to the women whose skin resembles the earth, to those who wear dark clothing and even darker lipstick, to the ones whose hair defy gravity and all laws of physics; y'all live your lives unapologetically and with no regrets. Y'all are much appreciated and truly blessed.
“When nobody else celebrates you, learn to celebrate yourself. When nobody else compliments you, then compliment yourself. It’s not up to other people to keep you encouraged. It’s up to you. Encouragement should come from the inside.”—Joel Osteen (via rainysolitude)
“There is no designated time for anything in your life. You don’t have to have your first kiss at any certain time, you don’t have to get married in your 20′s and you don’t have to do anything just because other people think it’s best. In fact, you will be much better off if you just do what your heart says. The day you stop caring what other people think is the day their opinions don’t mean anything, because you’re not there to give them weight.”—(via conqueryourinhibitions)
'Q.U.E.E.N.’ definitely is an acronym,' Monae explains during an interview at Fuse HQ. 'It’s for those who are marginalized.' She says the 'Q' represents the queer community, the 'U' for the untouchables, the 'E' for emigrants, the second 'E' for the excommunicated and the “N” for those labeled as negroid.
'It’s for everyone who’s felt ostracized,' she adds. 'I wanted to create something for people who feel like they want to give up because they’re not accepted by society.'
